Cryptosporidium and Giardia
USEPA method 1623 (USEPA, 2005) is the USEPA-recommended method for detection of
Cryptosporidium oocysts and Giardia cysts in water. Method 1623 includes
filtration, immunomagnetic separation, staining with fluorescent antibody, and
microscopic evaluation. The OWML has the capability to complete all steps in the
method including sample processing (filtration and concentration),
immunomagnetic separation, and microscopy.
