St. Francis Apartments, Cincinnati - Best Management Practices

St. Francis Apartments, Cincinnati - Best Management PracticesOne of the recent goals for the Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) of Greater Cincinnati and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) is to remove storm-water discharge from combined sewer pipes and return Lick Run to a more “natural” state that allows surface-water runoff to flow freely to Mill Creek. As part of this goal, a pilot project is being undertaken to determine the effectiveness and viability of the implementation of storm water best management practices (BMPs), specifically , a pair of stepped rain gardens installed at the St. Francis Apartments. The rain gardens are designed to reduce the quantity of storm-water runoff and provide water-quality improvements from parking lot runoff.
